Signing Up and Login Process¶
This guide will walk you through creating an account on Gohorto and accessing the platform. The process varies slightly depending on whether you're joining as a program participant or a program administrator.
System Requirements¶
Before you begin, ensure your system meets the following requirements:

Accessing the Platform¶
Gohorto is accessible via web browser at https://gohorto.com/. The platform uses role-based access control, which means different user types access the platform through different entry points.
Two Login Types¶
Gohorto provides secure and role-based access to its users through two distinct login screens. This separation ensures that each user group is directed to the appropriate interface with access to the features and functionalities specific to their role.
- Admin Login Screen: Exclusively for users with administrative privileges (system administrators, program managers, and authorized personnel).

Directs to: Admin Dashboard for platform oversight, management, and monitoring overall performance.

End User Login Screen: For all other users (Startups, SMEs, Mentors, Coaches, Investors, Trainees).

Registration Process¶
For Program Participants (Startups, Mentors, Investors, Trainees)¶
Option 1: Direct Registration¶
- Navigate to Registration Page

Click on "Sign Up" or "Register" button

Complete Registration Form
- Enter your email address
- Create a secure password (follow password requirements)
- Provide basic information (name, organization, etc.)

Select your primary role (Startup, Mentor, Investor, Trainee)

Email Verification
- Check your email inbox for a verification link

Click the verification link to activate your account

Complete Profile
- After verification, you'll be prompted to complete your profile
- Fill in additional details relevant to your role
- Upload profile picture (optional)
- Save your profile
Option 2: Invitation-Based Registration¶
Many users join Gohorto through invitations from program hosts:
- Receive Invitation Email
- Check your email for an invitation from a program host

Click Registration Link
- The link takes you to a pre-filled registration form

Your role may be pre-assigned based on the invitation

Complete Registration
- Verify or complete your information
- Set your password

Accept terms and conditions

Access Platform
- Once registered, you can log in using your credentials
Option 3: Application-Based Registration¶
For startups applying to programs:
- Start Application
- Navigate to a program's application page

Click "Apply Now" or "Start Application"

Create Account During Application
- The application process includes account creation

You can save your progress and return later

Complete Application
- Fill out all required application fields

Submit your application

Account Activation
- Your account is created upon application submission
- You'll receive login credentials via email
For Program Administrators¶
Program administrators are typically created by system administrators:
- Receive Admin Invitation
- System admin sends you an invitation email

- Click the registration link
- Set your password and complete your profile

Password Management¶
Creating a Strong Password¶
When creating your password, ensure it meets these requirements:
- Minimum 8 characters (recommended: 12+ characters)
- Mix of uppercase and lowercase letters
- At least one number
- At least one special character (!@#$%^&*)
- Avoid common words or personal information
Forgot Password¶
If you've forgotten your password:
- Navigate to Login Page
- Go to the login page

- Check your email inbox for a password reset link

The link is typically valid for 24 hours

Account Security Best Practices¶
- Use a Strong Password: Follow password best practices outlined above
- Enable Two-Factor Authentication: If available, enable 2FA for additional security
- Don't Share Credentials: Never share your login credentials with others
- Log Out When Done: Always log out when finished, especially on shared computers
- Keep Email Updated: Ensure your email address is current for account recovery
Role Switching and Account Management¶
Switching Between User Groups¶
If your account has multiple roles (e.g., Mentor, Trainee, Startup), you can switch between user groups to access specific features and dashboards relevant to each role.
To switch between groups: 1. Click on "Switch Account" on the top bar of the dashboard. 2. A dropdown menu will appear, showing all the user groups you belong to. 3. Select the user group you wish to switch to.
Automatic Group Assignment¶
Whenever a user is invited to participate in a particular activity (such as a training session, incubation program, or project team), the system automatically associates the user with the appropriate group.
Troubleshooting Login Issues¶
Common Issues and Solutions¶
Issue: "Invalid email or password" - Solution: Verify your email address and password. Use "Forgot Password" if needed.
Issue: "Account not verified" - Solution: Check your email for verification link. Request a new verification email if needed.
Issue: "Account locked" - Solution: Contact support if your account has been locked due to multiple failed login attempts.
Issue: "Cannot access admin dashboard" - Solution: Ensure you're using the admin login URL and have admin privileges.
