Signing Up and Login Process

This guide will walk you through creating an account on Gohorto and accessing the platform. The process varies slightly depending on whether you're joining as a program participant or a program administrator.

System Requirements

Before you begin, ensure your system meets the following requirements:

Accessing the Platform

Gohorto is accessible via web browser at https://gohorto.com/. The platform uses role-based access control, which means different user types access the platform through different entry points.

Two Login Types

Gohorto provides secure and role-based access to its users through two distinct login screens. This separation ensures that each user group is directed to the appropriate interface with access to the features and functionalities specific to their role.

  1. Admin Login Screen: Exclusively for users with administrative privileges (system administrators, program managers, and authorized personnel).
  2. URL: https://gohorto.com/admin (or your specific program's admin URL)
  3. Directs to: Admin Dashboard for platform oversight, management, and monitoring overall performance.

  4. End User Login Screen: For all other users (Startups, SMEs, Mentors, Coaches, Investors, Trainees).

  5. URL: https://gohorto.com/ (main platform URL)
  6. Directs to: Personalized role-specific dashboards based on the user's active role.

Registration Process

For Program Participants (Startups, Mentors, Investors, Trainees)

Option 1: Direct Registration

  1. Navigate to Registration Page
  2. Go to https://gohorto.com/
  3. Click on "Sign Up" or "Register" button

  4. Complete Registration Form

  5. Enter your email address
  6. Create a secure password (follow password requirements)
  7. Provide basic information (name, organization, etc.)
  8. Select your primary role (Startup, Mentor, Investor, Trainee)

  9. Email Verification

  10. Check your email inbox for a verification link
  11. Click the verification link to activate your account

  12. Complete Profile

  13. After verification, you'll be prompted to complete your profile
  14. Fill in additional details relevant to your role
  15. Upload profile picture (optional)
  16. Save your profile

Option 2: Invitation-Based Registration

Many users join Gohorto through invitations from program hosts:

  1. Receive Invitation Email
  2. Check your email for an invitation from a program host
  3. The email contains a unique registration link

  4. Click Registration Link

  5. The link takes you to a pre-filled registration form
  6. Your role may be pre-assigned based on the invitation

  7. Complete Registration

  8. Verify or complete your information
  9. Set your password
  10. Accept terms and conditions

  11. Access Platform

  12. Once registered, you can log in using your credentials

Option 3: Application-Based Registration

For startups applying to programs:

  1. Start Application
  2. Navigate to a program's application page
  3. Click "Apply Now" or "Start Application"

  4. Create Account During Application

  5. The application process includes account creation
  6. You can save your progress and return later

  7. Complete Application

  8. Fill out all required application fields
  9. Submit your application

  10. Account Activation

  11. Your account is created upon application submission
  12. You'll receive login credentials via email

For Program Administrators

Program administrators are typically created by system administrators:

  1. Receive Admin Invitation
  2. System admin sends you an invitation email
  3. The email contains a unique admin registration link

  4. Complete Admin Registration

  5. Click the registration link
  6. Set your password and complete your profile
  7. Verify your administrative role

  8. Access Admin Dashboard

  9. Log in at the admin login URL
  10. Access administrative features and settings

Login Process

Standard Login (End Users)

  1. Navigate to Login Page
  2. Go to https://gohorto.com/
  3. Click "Login" or "Sign In"

  4. Enter Credentials

  5. Enter your email address
  6. Enter your password

  7. Access Dashboard

  8. Click "Login" or press Enter
  9. You'll be redirected to your role-specific dashboard

Admin Login

  1. Navigate to Admin Login
  2. Go to https://gohorto.com/admin (or your admin-specific URL)

  3. Enter Admin Credentials

  4. Enter your admin email address
  5. Enter your admin password

  6. Access Admin Dashboard

  7. Click "Login"
  8. You'll be redirected to the Admin Dashboard

Password Management

Creating a Strong Password

When creating your password, ensure it meets these requirements:

  • Minimum 8 characters (recommended: 12+ characters)
  • Mix of uppercase and lowercase letters
  • At least one number
  • At least one special character (!@#$%^&*)
  • Avoid common words or personal information

Forgot Password

If you've forgotten your password:

  1. Navigate to Login Page
  2. Go to the login page
  3. Click "Forgot Password?" or "Reset Password"

  4. Enter Email Address

  5. Enter the email address associated with your account
  6. Click "Send Reset Link"

  7. Check Email

  8. Check your email inbox for a password reset link
  9. The link is typically valid for 24 hours

  10. Reset Password

  11. Click the reset link in the email
  12. Enter your new password twice
  13. Click "Reset Password"

  14. Login with New Password

  15. Return to the login page
  16. Log in with your new password

Account Security Best Practices

  • Use a Strong Password: Follow password best practices outlined above
  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication: If available, enable 2FA for additional security
  • Don't Share Credentials: Never share your login credentials with others
  • Log Out When Done: Always log out when finished, especially on shared computers
  • Keep Email Updated: Ensure your email address is current for account recovery

Role Switching and Account Management

Switching Between User Groups

If your account has multiple roles (e.g., Mentor, Trainee, Startup), you can switch between user groups to access specific features and dashboards relevant to each role.

To switch between groups: 1. Click on "Switch Account" on the top bar of the dashboard. 2. A dropdown menu will appear, showing all the user groups you belong to. 3. Select the user group you wish to switch to.

Automatic Group Assignment

Whenever a user is invited to participate in a particular activity (such as a training session, incubation program, or project team), the system automatically associates the user with the appropriate group.

Troubleshooting Login Issues

Common Issues and Solutions

Issue: "Invalid email or password" - Solution: Verify your email address and password. Use "Forgot Password" if needed.

Issue: "Account not verified" - Solution: Check your email for verification link. Request a new verification email if needed.

Issue: "Account locked" - Solution: Contact support if your account has been locked due to multiple failed login attempts.

Issue: "Cannot access admin dashboard" - Solution: Ensure you're using the admin login URL and have admin privileges.
